Manny P. here…

“`ABC will air a two-hour primetime special dedicated to the impact soap operas have had on television. It is called The Story of Soaps, and it will air on Tuesday, May 19th at 8p.

“`The program is also presented by People Magazine and explores the history serialized storytelling through the soap opera. In today’s shifting television landscape, The Story of Soaps traces how creators migrated from radio to television in order to become a dominant force in daytime programming for more than three decades.

“`Today, much of what propels modern television traces its roots back to those first sprawling, steamy storylines. The documentary examines this iconic genre and the cultural phenomenon its massive impact has had on the world at large.

“`On a personal note, I appeared in Santa Barbara in the 1980s. I am thrilled to be part of the lineage of the soap opera genre.

“`Like sand through an hourglass… This should be a great way to spend some time in front of the tube.
