“Forgotten Hollywood”- Jayne Mansfield’s Kid to Receive Star!

She was born Vera Jayne Palmer, but the world knows her as Jayne Mansfield The star was a true entertainer: actress of theater, film, and television; a singer; a model; and a nightclub performer. Jayne was the original blonde bombshell, an early Playboy Playmate, and the best at garnering publicity. She believed that any press is good press (even the negative stuff)!
Mansfield’s movies include Pete Kelly’s Blues, The Girl Can’t Help It, Too Hot to Handle, Will Success Spoil Rock Hunter,The George Raft Story, and The Guide For the Married Man. She worked opposite Cary Grant, Janet Leigh, Jane Russell, Edward G. Robinson, Tony Randall, Alan Ladd, Tom Ewell, Edmond O’Brien, Maurice Chevalier, Walter Matthau, and Phyllis Diller. In her career, Jayne won a Theatre World Award and a Golden Globe. She died at the young age of 34 in a car accident in 1967.
JAYNE MANSFIELD MARISKA HARGITAY
Mansfield had three children and her middle child, Mariska Hargitay (her real name), went on to become a famous actress, currently starring in Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce is honoring Mariska with a Star on the Walk of Fame next to her Mom’s Star on Hollywood Boulevard. Jayne received her accolade on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on February 8th, 1960.
